Poetry

This poem is from a project that I did with my class of visually impaired and physically disabled pupils, aged 11-14 yrs at Courtlands Special School, Bristol. We all wrote poems, including me. I chose to represent the problems I have with getting my thoughts down on paper. I have had this in my ‘shirt box’ for many years, and only discovered it when compiling my ‘fragments’ for this website.

I wrote ‘Beginnings’ when I was attracted to a woman visiting as a student at St. Christopher’s. Her name was Bryony. I never did pluck up the courage to tell her how I felt, so the ‘Beginning’ never became ‘after’.

I’m struck by how turning a poem into a graphic elevates it to become evenĀ  more interesting.
