I have used art throughout my life for self expression and for therapy – to express feelings and to work things out.
I did some formal training in the early 1990’s when I followed a Master Course in ‘Arts in Therapy and Education’ validated by Exeter University and taught at the ‘Institute for Arts in therapy and Education’ in London. I only completed the first half of the course, and much of this was devoted to sand tray therapy.
The featured image was drawn with pastels at the start of my Masters in Human Ecology in 2008, when we were asked to represent our lives as a flowing river.
The narrowing and interference in the middle represents a peiod of stress and disruption in my life, when I became a single parent and has a stormy seccond marriage that ending after a short time in divorce.
I started doing 5 minute ‘sketches’ every morning, to express my mood at the time. This was my first one, when I was obviously in a rather ecstatic mood.
