I painted the background first using acrylic paint and a roller. While that was drying, I drew the scene from a photograph of Castle Hill in Lancaster, upside down to help with perspective.
I started drawing upside down, using pastels, but was getting very confused, so I turned the work the right way up.
This is unfinished and I hope to try this scene again, perhaps using an ipad and Procreate, but another time I would not put in all of the window detail, but keep it more abstract.
